Questions

  • There are a wide range of Photography and Design packages available. A complete list with descriptions can be found on the “Multimedia Services” page.

  • Everyone is to some extent! You are not alone in feeling awkward or uncomfortable. I’ve had all kinds of faces in front of my lens and they all are worth the effort. There are a few things I like to tell people when they see me behind a camera:

    1. My camera is so quiet that most will never hear the ‘click’ of the shutter, so you will never be startled by it. I also avoid using strobes or flashes, because the flash is disorienting even for non-neurodivergent people.

    2. I can take sometimes thousands of photos in an hour. It may be more work for me, but I value getting the exact right moment in your eyes. There are often hundreds of factors to getting the perfect image, so let me worry about finding it.

    3. As strange as it may sound—to me taking people’s pictures is a spiritual act of worship. There is something special about taking one of the first things ever created (light) and the thing our brains can’t invent on their own (faces) and putting them together in a unique art form. No matter the blemishes, wrinkles, or other parts of ourselves we may feel shy about, there is something amazing about portraits. I believe that every human being is created in the image of God, and the fact that I get to record this moment is incredible.

    4. You are allowed to feel shy, but I never accept negative comments about yourself. When giving feedback in the session, you make comment on the photo itself, not how you feel about your face or body. We honor ourselves and the value we have by critiquing the things the photographer does, not who we are. There is a massive difference between ‘I don’t like the low angle on me’ and ‘I hate my double chin’.

  • Yes! Every photo service I offer I can do for supervised‍ children and teens.

I collect photo release forms for every person I photograph including minors, but I have a policy of not publishing images of anyone under the age of eighteen. I do this for a variety of reasons, but the main ones are about the safety and privacy of children and teens. I leave it up to the parents to post them, but that is a parental decision. As far as I can, I will protect children’s privacy and safety online.

  • Yes. I am a portrait photographer. Please let me know how I can make your (or your loved one’s) photo experience as fun as possible.

    No matter the client:

    • I do not use loud cameras or flashing lights.

    • I am happy to go slow or take breaks if the subject needs a minute.

    • Posing and Framing are negotiable. (Example: If you hate pictures of yourself where you are sitting down: tell me and we won’t take any or we will find a way to make it work where it you do like it.)

If you need special accommodations for any reason, please contact me before our photo session.
